Mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety disorders, mood instability, and other psychiatric disorders, can disrupt a person’s thinking, emotions, moods, and ability to relate to others. One in five adults will have a mental illness severe enough to require treatment during his or her lifetime, and many more will have emotional and mental health problems that prevent them from fully enjoying their lives. One in two adults with a substance use disorder will also have another mental illness.
For more than 10 years, South Hills Recovery Project has provided comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for persons with mental illness and substance use disorder. Our Psychiatric Service offers a safe compassionate treatment environment where patients can understand their illness and begin the recovery process.
At your first appointment, you will meet with an experienced psychiatrist who will evaluate, diagnose and discuss treatment options for identified psychiatric problems. We also provide ongoing medication management for those patients who choose medication as a treatment option.
For those who do not have a mental illness diagnosed at the first appointment, a psychiatrist is available to meet with you anytime during the course of treatment for Opiate Use Disorder should you wish to be assessed and treated for a mental health problem.
